ABOUT VISHNUMAYA
Vishnumaya is mostly called as Chathan in Kerala, South of India. He is also being called with many other names in different states of India. He is the divine son born in human form for one of the trimurties God shiva and Universe Mother Goddess Parvathy, when they united in their human form where Goddess Parvathy disguised as Kulivaka, a tribal woman. The born son was handed to Kulivaka who was destined by time, to take care son of God shiva and Goddess Parvathy. Shree Vishnumaya was born to protect the tribal region from dangers, and in that process he defeated the most dangerous beast bison of that time which was a trouble to the jungle animals and tribal people. He made that surrendered bison as his vehicle for transportation.
The name Vishnumaya came up at his seventh birthday when he was releaved to the fact of his birth and about his real parents. He left the tribe with the permission of his foster Mother Kulivaka and reach the abode of God Shiva and Mother Goddess Parvathy on his vehicle Bison. Seeing that Nandikeshwara, vehicle of God Shiva, is guarding the place and resisting him to enter. Shree Vishnumaya took the form of God Vishnu, one of Trimurties, and entered the gate fooling Nandikeshwara. Knowing the fact of arrival of his son, God Shiva and Mother Goddess Parvathy were very happy and hugged him saying that you invoke the form of Vishnu by Maya, So hence forth, you will be known as Vishnu Maya. God Shiva, taught his son the art of warfare and secrets to kill asura Jalandhara which was one of life purpose.
And in his childhood, he killed evil asura Jalandhara who was terrorizing the three worlds heaven, Pathala and earth with his mastery in maya and teachings from his father God Shiva. Followed with another destiny, he killed another bad intention asura named Briga who tried to capture his foster mother Kulivaka. It is said, in that battle with asura Briga, the 400 kuttichathans (small forms of chathan or vishnumaya) arosed from the blood of Shree Vishnumaya that fell on the ground. To safeguard Shree Vishnumaya from the ten Brahmastras (the most powerful weapons of time) sent by Asura Briga, the 10 kuttichathans swallowed each brahmastras and sacrificed their lives for Shree Vishnumaya.
Shree Vishnumaya from his childhood revealed the greatest power of that time and defeated powerful asuras like Jalandhara and Briga, which made Dev Indra, King of Heaven to welcome him to heaven but he declined the offer and said his place is on earth with the poor people who needed his protection. Shree Vishnumaya teaches everyone to lead righteous path in life and bless everyone to live a happy, healthy, prosperous life which helps you to attain salvation. This was reason he is also called as "Shasta". Being a boy in that age, he is also referred as "Balashastavu"

TEMPLE HISTORY
Naduvilpurakal Vishnumaya Temple is very old temple situated in Tholur village of Thrissur District, built for Naduvilpurakal family by Velayudhan who had been a Veluchapadu in his time and at present he is 95 years old. It is said by him that around 300 years back, one of our ancestor who was Mastery in Kalari (Ancient Martial Art) from Kottekkad Kalari, got blessed by Shree Vishnumaya after workshipping him. With the support of the King of that reign, our ancestor built temple of Shree Vishnumaya for the people at that location in that time. And as generations passed, Velayudhan was inherited with the blessings of Shree Vishnumaya and started workshipping him and he built the temple at Tholur near to his house for the welfare of his family. He started worshipping him and serving him with poojas and nivedyams till this date.
When Ashtamangalyam of temple took place in first quarter of 2018, it was predicted this temple will become a source of relief for all people especially for the poor irrespective of caste, creed or religion in coming future. Further stated, the old temple will be re-established in its newest form and soon the deities of temple will chose a chosen one from this family who will attain and obtain the energies of the temple as form of vidya and be a mediator between deities and people and media for for the people to communicate their problem to the God. This will help people to get close to the dieties and get the blessings which helps to remove their sufferings and sorrows and prosper their life.
